FIFA 19 hit the shelves on Friday with gamers staying up until midnight in order to get their hands on the latest edition of the EA Sports franchise.
While Ultimate Team is unsurprisingly a huge draw in the new release, countless FIFA fanatics are still committed to the tried-and-trusted career mode where they can guide a chosen club to glory over several seasons.
Hidden gems and wonderkids are always in high demand as bosses look to shape their squads, but sometimes a bargain buy or an out-of-contract pro picked up on a free can be the difference between success and failure.
Express Sport have gathered together some of the most exciting young players available for cheap, established stars on dwindling deals and veteran free agents who could all boost your team without denting your transfer budget.
Hannes Thor Halldorsson (Free agent)
International goalkeeper available on a free. The Icelandic stopper is 34-years-old but can be a short-term solution between the sticks.
Christian Fruchtl (Bayern Munich)
One of the most exciting young keepers in the game. Huge potential and should be available for cheap.
Mile Svilar (Benfica)
Champions League experience with a future rating of 85 within reach. Worth investing in early.

David De Gea (Manchester United)
Surprisingly, the Manchester United stopper is available on a pre-contract agreement. However, wages could be a problem with the Spaniard setting you back at least £200,000-a-week.
Alphonse Areola (Paris Saint-Germain)
The Frenchman is also out of contract but on a faction of De Gea’s wages.
Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool)
Still affordable despite a breakthrough 2017/18 campaign. Should cost in the region of £12million, which is a steal considering his quality.
Ethan Ampadu (Chelsea)
Snap him up early before his value skyrockets. The Welshman is a versatile defender who can also perform in midfield.

Naldo (Schalke)
Ageing but worth a punt for a season at just £40,000-a-week. Snap him up on a pre-contract agreement.
Boubacar Kamara (Marseille)
Will reach 87 if given enough training and match action, but is still relatively affordable.
Vinicius (Free agent)
But the Hungarian is available on a free and could become a vital member of a cash-strapped side.

Phil Foden (Manchester City)
Much cheaper than his European rivals, and provides a good base to build a team around.
Riqui Puig (Barcelona)
Catching the eye in Spain and tipped to be the next big thing out of the Barcelona academy.
The 19-year-old’s rating could rise by as much as 20.
Yacine Brahimi (Porto)
Wages of just £25,000-a-week and available on a free at the end of the current campaign.

Hector Herrera (Porto)
Brahimi’s team-mate is another experienced pro on a dwindling contract. The Mexican’s current deal expires at the end of the season and he currently earns wages of just £18,000.
Anthony McDonald (Hearts)
Won’t cost much and has the potential to reach an 84 rating if managers put in the time and effort.
Jann-Fiete Arp (Hamburg)
Potential to reach a rating of 88 if given enough game time and could be a physical focal point for any attack.
Sebastian Giovinco (Toronto)
Still a real threat with his set-piece ability. The Italian is out of contract next season and earns relatively low wages.

FIFA 19 Career Mode: Patrick Cutrone is making a name for himself at AC Milan (Image: GETTY)
Patrick Cutrone (AC Milan)
Already a known quantity after his impressive displays for AC Milan but still relatively cheap and has the potential to get much better.
Ryan Sessegnon (Fulham)
Like Cutrone, fans will already be aware of Sessegnon but that doesn’t mean he should be overlooked with his superb attacking statistics.
Pietro Pellegri (Monaco)
The 17-year-old may not be available until next year after recently joining Monaco, but bosses should definitely try and snap up the Italian when he is ready for his next move.
