One of the main ways to succeed in Career Mode is to sign some of the very best FIFA 19 wonderkids. These are the players that might not be the very best right now - although they're still incredible - but down the line, they'll be in the running for Ballon D'Or and capped hundreds of times for their respective counties. Turning one of the FIFA 19 wonderkids into a world beating star is one of the best accomplishments you can do in FIFA 19.
How, then, can you maximise your chances of building a team of youthful Champions League contenders? Using GR's guide to the best FIFA 19 wonderkids, is how. They'll set you back a few quid, but any or all of the below are guaranteed to deliver goals, assists and/or trophies if you stand by them across multiple campaigns. Use it in tandem with our FIFA 19 career mode guide for the best results.
Fitting for a winger that has pace to burn, he couldn’t get away from previous club Manchester City quick enough. He’s now thriving in the Bundesliga at Borussia Dortmund. The newly-capped England international also has the potential in FIFA 19’s Career Mode to grow into one of the best wingers in the world. 87 Dribbling, 88 Acceleration, and 90 Agility makes Sancho easily one of the game’s most obvious signings if you want to plunk down £18m.
Having already received a big boost in potential thanks to EA’s FUT Future Stars campaign, Havertz is on the cusp of something huge at both his club Leverkusen and Germany, having made his debut for Die Mannscahft in September 2018. Blessed with phenomenal technical prowess and the ability to pick a pass in-game with his passing and dribbling stats already starting in the low-80s, he can be yours if you activate his £44.6m release clause.
Now, this is a deep cut. Boasting one of the greatest potential leaps in the game (and FIFA history), Tonali has been likened to Pirlo thanks to his tendency to spray passes all over the pitch in a deep-lying midfield role. The Brescia midfielder can be snapped up for a measly £2.5 million at the beginning of the game, ensuring that your midfield keeps ticking over for the next decade or so.
While not quite breaking through into the very top tier of young goalkeepers, you definitely shouldn’t turn your nose up at Andriy Lunin if you can tempt him away from the Bernabeu after his loan deal at Leganes expires. With all main goalkeeper attributes already in the mid-70s at the age of just 19, Lunin is worth investing in if you can justify the £15m+ figure Real Madrid will quote.
Although his international future is still up in the air (with England monitoring him closely), there’s nothing uncertain about the abundance of talent Bailey has in both real-life and FIFA 19. An absolute speed demon on the left flank, Bailey starts with 87 dribbling and 94 acceleration – and that’s only going to improve. If you’re a top club, you can haggle with Leverkusen and prise him from their clutches for around £45m.
You’ll be in safe hands thanks to this French stopper, already touted as the heir apparent to Hugo Lloris in the national team at just 19. His FIFA stats back that up, too. Across the board, Lafont boasts attributes to rival his older peers, with many nudging well into the 80-89 range after just a season. The only downside is you’ll have to wait at least a year to acquire the ‘keeper as he’s only just joined Fiorentina in real life. £20m should do it. Not too shabby.
It can be easy to think ‘young Argentinian winger’ and immediately skip ahead to the Lionel Messi comparisons. But Ezequiel Barco might just about justify the hype. Possessing a wand of a right foot as well as an incredible set of dribbling skills that has already seen him terrifying defenders Stateside, Barco can be yours for roughly £15m in the second season. He’s got pace to burn, too, if that’s your thing.
The Milanese striker is very much a jack of all trades. Be patient with him, however (and maybe arrange an outgoing loan deal or two) and Cutrone will explode into one of the deadliest strikers in Europe. While his wage demands and £20m fee might leave him out of the reach of some mid-tier clubs, it’s worth saving the pennies: He’ll prove to be a worthwhile investment for years to come.
Probably one of the biggest bargains in the game (if you can call £30m a bargain), Marcus Rashford has it all: speed, agility, and a real eye for goal. While his real-life performances may have seen him stagnate somewhat under the watchful eye of Jose Mourinho, that’s done little to dampen EA’s expectations for the Mancunian. He’s even got 4 star skills and 4 star weak foot ability, should you want him to torment players by cutting in from the left wing.
De Ligt won’t be languishing at Ajax for much longer – and his 80 overall starting point reflects that. Already one of the strongest and most versatile centre backs in the game, and the world, de Ligt can eventually grow into a 91 overall player. That’s matched only by the Sultan of shithousery, Sergio Ramos in terms of defenders. That’s pretty good company to keep, all told. He’ll only cost you £20m in the opening transfer window, too. Bargain.
Now we’re moving on to the big boys. Vinicius Junior’s stats are obscene for a 17-year-old and, crucially, he comes lumbered with a £41.5m release clause. That means that, if you can cough up the dough, you’ve got the best potential winger in the entire game on your hands for, bizarrely, only slightly more than Real Madrid paid to bring him to Europe in real life. FIFA is weird.
The third goalkeeper and second Milan player to feature in our list, Donnarumma has already been christened the next Buffon, despite his on-off struggles with the Milan faithful. But FIFA players don’t have to worry about unfulfilled potential. He’ll be on course to swiftly become the number one, uhh, number one in the world if you can get him. £30m from a big club should tempt him away during the first season.
No, that’s not a typo. EA reckons that the striker, fresh off of winning the World Cup at the age of only 19, will be better than a certain Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Those are some big boots to fill but you’re not going to be thinking about what when he’s banging in the goals for you now, are you?

- Of all the players of a potential rating higher than 85 Overall, FC Nantes' Abdoulaye Dabo is the one with the potential to improve the most. The seventeen-year-old starlet starts at just 62 Overall in FIFA 19, meaning he can improve by up to twenty-five points in total. In terms of your Career Mode playthrough, it means he's one of the very best long-term options, and could also be available for a pretty meagre fee if you're lucky. Plenty of last year's starlets, like Tottenham's Marcus Edwards, the previous player with the potential to improve by the largest margin, drop off the list entirely this year. Remember that age is an important factor here. Whilst younger, lower-Overall players like Dabo might come at a better price, if you can afford more developed players then often it's a safer bet - you might not be fitting in four, five or six seasons into one Career Mode playthrough, after all, and so may never see a seventeen-year-old's full potential. For those longer plathroughs, we recommend players with a starting Overall in the 60s, to keep the cost down. The likes of Dabo, Chelsea's Ethan Ampadou, Monaco's Guebbels, Bayern's Fruchtl, and Brescia's Sandro Tonali are great options for huge long-term growth. For more instant hits - aside from the older players you'll find in our FIFA 19 player ratings guide - look to the likes of Mbappe (who will probably be extortionate), Gianluigi Donnarumma, Man City's Gabriel Jesus or Ajax's Matthijs de Ligt, who have current Overall ratings of 87, 82, 83 and 80 respectively and can provide an immediate impact at just about any club. Don't necessarily go straight for the highest-rated potential players. Although it's great if you have the cash, often you're better off doing a little searching around for players at smaller, more cash-strapped clubs outside of the top tier leagues to pick up a bargain. Do you really need to prize Kylian Mbappй from Paris Saint Germain in the same year he officially joined, when you could pick up Patrick Cutrone or Christian Pulisic instead? Be flexible with your positions. It's more of a general tip for FIFA 19 anyway (and long-term players will remember the days of pace-abusers packing the team with speedsters regardless of position) but don't forget that often, players have expertise in more than one spot on the team sheet. Marcus Rashford can play on the left as well as up front, for example, so expect him to be able to do a job for you there in FIFA 19, too.

Before you go ahead and start purchasing some of the best young talent in FIFA 19, it is important that you understand some of the key tips and tricks that are needed before you buy.
- In most cases, high-rated players such as Ronaldo and Messi are usually out of the question for most players in Career mode, especially as you just begin to get started. So how do you purchase the best talent available while on a budget? Well, you'll actually be surprised at just how much potential a young up and coming star may have, as a player rated in the low 60's could potentially reach the high 80's after just a few seasons. For this reason, wonderkids are highly sort after. The best thing about young talent is the fact that if they are below an overall rating of 80, they can usually be snapped up significantly cheaper than most already established players. With many highly regarded players nearing retirement, wonderkids can be a great way to build up a squad that can potentially replace well-known squad members once they retire, without having to fork out unnecessary money. One of the most important things to remember when purchasing a young up and coming star is that their estimated potential is not guaranteed, as it ultimately comes down to a number of factors such as training and playing time. It's always important to weigh up whether or not it is worth your time and money negotiating for a player with big clubs, as they will usually be very reluctant to let go of high potential players.
Leading the top of the list is the up and coming Milan goalkeeper, Donnarumma, who has the potential to reach an overall rating of 93, which is up 11 points from his current overall rating of 82. Another surprising name on the list is Christian Fruchtl, who has the potential to jump a staggering 21 points. It is highly recommended that you pick him up while he is cheap, as he is only rated 65 overall and has huge potential to grow.

Leading the defensive list, Matthijs de Ligt has the potential to reach the same rating as the current defensive superstar, Sergio Ramos. While he isn't going to be extremely cheap, he is definitely worth picking up if you're looking for the next leading defender in the sport.
If you're on the cheaper side of things you're definitely in luck, as up and coming stars such as Ethan Ampadu, Reece James, and Lars Lukas Mai all have the potential to jump over 20 points, taking them all into the mid to high 80's. Thanks to their current low overall ratings, their transfer fees will barely dent your budget.

Some of the biggest standouts in the midfielder list is Ezequiel Barco, who jumps up to a potential overall rating of 89, which is quite the jump from his current overall of just 74. With such potential, Barco would be an ideal pick for anyone looking for a potential superstar midfielder.
The likes of Sandro Tonali, Abdoulaye Dabo, and Angel Gomes are also top picks, as they all have the potential to jump over 20 ratings, taking them into the high overall 80's. With current overall ratings in the low 60's, these three up and coming youngsters will be dirt cheap.

Finally, when it comes to the best young attackers in FIFA 19, we have a number of surprisingly high potential up and coming stars that could eventually dethrone the likes of Messi and Ronaldo.
It should come as no surprise that Kylian Mbappe is once again at the top of the list, as the 19-year-old has the potential to reach an overall rating of 95. Currently rated just 77, Vinicius Junior also has the potential to reach an overall of 92, setting himself up amongst the likes of Neymar and Messi. It is also great to see the likes of Pietro Pellegri and Willem Geubbels so high up in the list, especially given their current low overall ratings.

There is nothing that gets a club's fan base more excited than the prospect of having a wonderkid on their books, a game-changing player who can define the team for years to come and propel them to silverware at home and in continental competition.
FIFA 19 is no different, with an astute signing of a young player turning your Career Mode team from also-rans into genuine contenders. There are loads of talented young players from around the world that end up becoming superstars with the right tuition and game time, including many bargains that may even be willing to sign for teams outside the top flight.
Goal compiles all the wonderkids in FIFA 19, listing the players with the highest potential rating under 20 in the game. This list is ordered by position, with the players separated into the category of their primary position. For example, Kylian Mbappe's preferred position is on the wing, so he is listed as a forward, but he's also the best young midfielder in the game too as he's just so talented, he can play almost everywhere!

Once again, AC Milan and Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma is the best young shot-stopper in the game, reflecting his real-life status where he won Goal's NxGn in 2017 and finished as runner-up in 2018. Donnarumma's price in FIFA 19 will probably scare off many potential suitors, but he is the only young goalkeeper who ends up with a rating over 90.
Andriy Lunin starts Career Mode on loan from Real Madrid, so is not an option in the first transfer window, but value can be had if you look to Bayern Munich's Christian Fruchtl or Benfica's Mile Svilar, who impressed last season against Manchester United in the Europa League despite conceding an own goal.
Those two will probably not get into your team straight away, with the vast majority of talented young goalkeepers having ratings less than 70 at the start of the game.

Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt is one of the most in-demand defenders in world football, but is surprisingly affordable in FIFA 19 - if you have that budget that is! He has a current rating of 80, meaning he's probably good enough to be a starter at most clubs before getting better and better each season.
Trent Alexander-Arnold's breakthrough season at Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp has earned him the prize of the best young full-back in FIFA 19. It's not quite a trophy, but with an opening value of just over £12 million, you may be able to tempt him away from Anfield to win silverware elsewhere.
Wales international Ethan Ampadu is a versatile defender, having already played for his country in midfield, and is available relatively cheaply at the start of the game. If you can sign him in the first transfer window, you'll be greatly rewarded as he develops into a brilliant talent on and off the ball.

Bundesliga duo Leon Bailey and Christian Pulisic are well known around the world already and their values in FIFA 19 reflect this. They're both first-team ready at the start of the game, just like Bailey's team-mate Kai Havertz, who is the perfect young player to support the attack through the middle.
Manchester City's Phil Foden is available for half the price of the German-based players, and with excellent ball control and passing, he can be a midfield anchor for many years. Most of the midfielders have multiple positions, with attacking midfielder Takefusa Kubo capable of playing anywhere across midfield or even in attack. He's a very affordable option as he starts the game on loan at J-League club Yokohama F Marinos. Oh, and he's also nicknamed the 'Japanese Messi'. Who wouldn't want him in their team?
Aside from Kubo, there are number of talented 17-year-olds available at reasonable prices, but they will need plenty of game time to reach their potential. Luckily you can train them in FIFA 19 or even better, give them game time.

It's no surprise that Kylian Mbappe is the highest rated young player in FIFA 19 as well as the teenager with the highest potential. The PSG superstar starts off at 87 rated but can reach as high as 95 - which is better than both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo's current ratings!

Hamburg teenager Jann-Fiete Arp can become an 88-rated striker while Chelsea's Callum Hudson-Odoi is a brilliant young winger who can also play through the middle.
Two young Americans who start off relatively cheap and low-rated are PSG's Timothy Weah and Werder Bremen's Josh Sargent, but both can become an unstoppable force by the time the 2026 World Cup in North America rolls around.

In Career mode, you can attempt to take a league from the bottom all the way to the top, and you can play the role of manager or player or both. Along the way, you will also have to recruit new players into your team and manage them so as to make your team stronger. This guide will tell you how to build a team effectively along with some other tips for the Career mode.
TIPS FOR CAREER MODE
Pick A Club That Suits Your Style
Regardless of whether you want to pick a club that is already well established, or an underdog, try and pick a club that has the particular strengths and weaknesses corresponding to your playstyle. If you play aggressively, then pick a team with a strong offense, but with enough defense to hold your ground.
Don’t Go For The Big Players
Although you may be tempted to try and buy the huge stars, they are very expensive and when you are starting out, you probably won’t have enough money to get them in your team. For this reason, it would be a good idea to invest in Wonderkids, and the next section will tell you more about this.
Focus On Training
Training is a great way to sharpen your skills, and it’s also the best way to get used to any new players you may have bought into your team. There are lots of training drills available, so make sure you do them from time to time so that your skills keep improving.
Make Use Of Custom Game Plans
With FIFA 19, you now have the option to set custom game plans and you can switch between different tactics on the fly. This means you can quickly adapt to any particular situation making use of these game plans.
WONDERKIDS TO SIGN
As stated earlier, it will be a great idea to sign Wonderkids in the game. These players aren’t very expensive and they don’t start off with great ratings. However, if you make them play regularly, their ratings can improve drastically. You can find below the list of Wonderkids between the ages of 17 and 21 along with their potential growth. However, keep in mind that it’s not necessary that the player will reach the potential growth number, as this depends on how regularly the player gets to play on the field and the amount of training they get.
